Pell Mell Music Packaging

After being on SST records since the mid-eighties, Pell Mell finally got signed to David Geffen Company in the mid-nineties and released Interstate on compact disc and vinyl. The roadside imagery was inspired by the album title, which references the fact that the members of the band lived in different states and worked on music by sending tapes back and forth. For their next release, the somewhat darker mood of the music was the inspiration for the cover. The title Star City references both the Russian Space Center and Los Angeles, where the album was produced by Chad Blake.
