Art_Latin_America: Against the Survey

Stoltze Design Group is proud to share an important new collaboration with the Davis Museum at Wellesley College. Art_Latin_America: Against the Survey, the debut exhibition of the museum’s impressive collection of Latin American art, features over 150 works from 12 countries gathered over the course of more than two decades.

The catalog we designed for Art_Latin_America showcases the works of 99 Latin American artists—about a third of whom are women—across 256 richly illustrated pages, embracing diversity of background, experience, residence, and point of view. Curated and edited by James Oles, Adjunct Curator of Latin American Art at the Davis Museum and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Art at Wellesley College, the catalog features 41 contributing authors. The essays reexamine and push the conceptual boundaries of Latin American art in themes of identity and territory, war and loss, protest and propaganda, saints and rituals—and many others.

The catalog is available at the Davis Museum and through the University of Texas Press.

The exhibit will be on view February 7–June 9, 2019.
