Monotype

Identity / Branding / Brochures / Print / Digital

Stoltze was recently engaged to help redefine and revitalize the global brand of Monotype Imaging, a Woburn, Massachusetts-based company specializing in digital typesetting and typeface design, as well as text and imaging solutions. Working closely with their design director Dennis Dimos, we developed a brand identity around the new logotype. The logo features Kootenay, a typeface created by Monotype type director Steve Matteson.

The visual language and messaging were launched with a 16-page oversized brochure. A letterpress cover, artful imagery, and—of course—typography carry the reader from Monotype’s venerable past into today’s vivid, digital present. We created a flexible system of business papers showcasing Monotype’s formidable roots in type design.

The papers incorporate large letterforms from their extensive font offerings. With four different designs for each letter of the alphabet, this was undoubtedly the most ambitious business card solution we have ever (and, we hope, will ever) create!
