The Zeiterion
Identity / Branding / Experiential / Digital / Print
Built in 1923 as a “palace for the people” and cherished as one of New Bedford’s architectural treasures, the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center—also known as The Z—recently completed an extensive renovation that preserved its historic Art Deco details while introducing new spaces, including a lounge, classrooms, and flexible venues for performance and community use.
Stoltze Design was thrilled to collaborate with the Zeiterion marketing team to create a comprehensive visual identity system that bridges the theater’s storied past and vibrant future. The new logo reorients the name as a concise, standalone mark, anchored by the reimagined “Z” monogram—framed by architectural ornament and radiating rays that express the theater’s role as both beacon and stage. A bold typographic palette, expressive color system inspired by stage lighting, and borders drawn from the building’s historic details and the visual language of vintage playbills together form a cohesive, unmistakably Z identity for this dynamic and culturally vital institution.
